Ally & Zach - The Inn at Shelburne Farms - Vermont Elopement on Lake Champlain

The Inn and Gardens at Shelburne Farms is one of the best locations in Vermont for proposals, engagement portraits, and wedding photography. I’ve held countless photo sessions in the flower garden behind the Inn, and shamelessly study the arc and timing of sunset throughout the season to ensure that all photography sessions are scheduled during the best light at golden hour. This spectacular venue offers a variety of backdrops for photographers with manicured grounds, beautiful architecture, and views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains in New York.

Ally and Zach came to me with a specific vision - to hold their elopement at the historic Inn at Shelburne Farms with their close friends and family in the spring. The weather forecast lines up with their date, and the peonies were in full bloom behind the Inn. We timed the light right to catch the best of it for their ceremony and portraits.

Ally’s dress was her mother’s, altered to create a one of a kind piece that blended vintage and contemporary style, complimenting the locale. One particularly special detail was the four leaf clover that she had found on the lawn the day before. After pressing it, she asked me to incorporate it into her photos in some way. It fit perfectly into a photo of their rings - emblematic of the good fortune to come in this next chapter of their life together.
